Moroccan director Ali Benjelloun explores cultural self-determination, community and resistance against the loss of identity: In an Amazigh village in the Atlas Mountains, three young musicians dream of their big break, while women tend the land, singing with a zest for life. Everything changes when a new, conservative imam arrives: Women are forbidden from singing, young people are no longer allowed to make music and men who are puppeteers or make masks have to give up their work and other traditional trades. The determination of the young people and the pride of the women inspire the entire village to rise up. The screening will be followed by a discussion with the director (via video).
